At 19:12 303 Truck (Wilkins #3), 302 Engine (Wilkins #1), and 153 Engine were alerted for smoke coming from a dwelling in the 100-blk of Quarry St, Wilkins Twp. Soon after dispatch police arrived and reported fire showing from the attic. 303 Truck and 153 Engine arrived with the engine laying a supply line and 303 Truck setting up make the roof. The 2 1/2 story dwelling was reported to be vacant with the front and back door boarded up. The crew of 153 Engine quickly went to work removing the plywood and forced entry where they found fire active fire in the 1st floor. The Volunteers made quick work of the 1st floor fire as additional personnel began knocking the attic fire from the exterior. Crews then reached the second floor and began to open up to extinguish the remaining fire. Additional personnel from 303 Truck, 302 Engine, and 153 Truck arrived and assisted with opening up on both the 1st and 2nd floors until the fire was completely extinguished. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in less than 15 minutes and the incident was placed under control in roughly 1 hour. 303 and 153 equipment assisted the fire marshal and cleared after 3 hours. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
